Stuff You Might Not Need
If you’ve upgraded from an older notebook computer to a new model, you might discover some accessory items you no longer need to carry. Use this checklist to lighten up your load.
Parallel and serial cables
If you laptop no longer has these ports, leave these relics behind.
CardBus or PC Card Devices.
Almost all recent laptops now use ExpressCard slots instead. You could try selling your old cards on eBay, or pick up an ExpressCard to PC Card/CardBus adapter for cards you just can’t live without.
Numeric Keypad
These are great accessories for number crunchers. However, many laptops with 15.6-inch or larger screens now include an integrated keypad that’s separate from the standard alphanumeric keyboard.
RJ-11 Modem Cable
If you can’t remember the last time you used a dial-up connection, dump this out of your laptop bag.
