Ubuntu One Offers Free Online Storage
One of the most interesting new features is Ubuntu One. It's actually an online storage service, specifically designed for synchronizing Ubuntu machines. Canonical, the Ubuntu developers, offers 2GB of free Internet storage in addition to premium plans with more storage.
The synchronization features enable you to share files online and access data across multiple Ubuntu machines. It can also be used for a backup solution.
Some applications, such as the email client Evolution and the Tomboy note-taking application, can even be synchronized among the Ubuntu bunch.
To take advantage of Ubuntu One, you need a Launchpad account. You'll be notified of this the first time you bring up Ubuntu One by clicking Applications > Internet from the panel.
After creating an account, you can register your Ubuntu machines and start synchronizing.
You can upload files from either the web browser or the Ubuntu File Browser (see Figure 2) by clicking Places > Ubuntu One on the panel.
