Windows Live Photo Gallery
I thought Windows Photo Gallery was one of the better additions to Windows Vista, and was disappointed when Microsoft removed it from Windows 7. That said, I'm glad to see it as a free download from the Windows Live Essentials site.
Windows Live Photo Gallery, shown in Figure 6, is one of the better basic digital photo-editing programs out there. You can use the program to manage your digital photo library, as well as edit and print individual photos.
Live Photo Gallery's Fix function lets you adjust color and tint, cropping, detail (sharpening and reducing noise), exposure (brightness, contrast, shadows, and highlights), and red eye; there's also an Auto Adjust function for quick and easy fixes. You can also rotate and straighten pictures, convert a color picture to black and white, and create good-looking photo slide shows.
