Windows Live Movie Maker
Windows Movie Maker is a video-editing program that has been around for a few years now, but the Windows Live Essentials version is completely revised. The new Windows Live Movie Maker retains most of the program's existing functionality, but in a new, easier-to-use interface.
As you can see in Figure 5, Windows Live Movie Maker features a playback window, a timeline/media window, and a ribbon across the top. Add movie clips to the timeline/media window and arrange them in the order you want. You can then add animated transitions between clips, special effects, titles, credits, and the like for professional-looking results. Your final movies can be written to DVD or uploaded directly to YouTube.

New to this version of the program is high-definition video capability. Live Move Maker lets you import clips taken with HD camcorders and publish them in 1080p HDTV resolution.
Also new is an AutoMovie mode that automatically adds transitions and titles to produce good-looking movies with a minimum of fuss and muss.
