Managing Taskbar Buttons
Now that you know what the Windows 7 taskbar does, let's look a little at how to manage the new taskbar.
In previous versions of the taskbar, you had no control over the order of taskbar buttons; the order was dictated by the order in which the applications were opened. With Windows 7, you have total control over Taskbar icon order. Just drag and drop a taskbar icon into the position you want, and there it stays. That makes for a more consistentand easier-to-usetaskbar.
To add an application or document shortcut to the taskbar, just navigate to that item using the Start menu or Windows Explorer, right-click the item's icon, and select Pin to Taskbar. Alternately, you can drag an icon from any folder to the taskbar. Either approach is quick and easy.
To remove an item from the taskbar, right-click it and select Unpin This Program from the Taskbar from the Jump List.
