Network Icon and Recent Items Disappeared from the Start Menu
I was initially relieved when I clicked the Start button. As you see in Figure 4, there haven't been major changes there. However, the Network icon and Recent Items are missing.
To see the computers on the network, you'll now have to open Computer and click the Network icon near the bottom on the left pane. As far as re-accessing previously opened documents, there is a new Jump List feature.
Some of the most recently open applications are listed on the left side of the Start menu. Some of these applications will have a Jump List, showing recently opened documents for that particular program (see Figure 5).
Although these Jump Lists are handy, not all recently opened programs and documents seem to appear. The Recent Items menu would also be useful, to show all the items in one spot.
You can get this menu back, but you must customize the Start menu.
