Shazam
Another one making the list for cool factor (and being free) is Shazam, which allows an iPhone to listen to music being played, analyze the song, compare it against an online database, and display song, album, and artist information about the song (complete with links to buy from the iTunes Store). This may not always be the most practical application, but it does come in handy if you’re in a store, out clubbing, or just listening to the radio and want to know about the song that's currently playing. Plus, it's just plain fun to use (and it's a great way to show off your iPhone to your friends).
