- Summary
More than 30,000 applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch are for sale in Apple's App Store. Some are great, some are fluff, and some are just plain bad. But, there are a handful of apps that all iPhone or iPod Touch owners should check out if they haven't already. Here are my top 20 such picks.
Facebook and FacePhone
The Facebook application may seem like an obvious choice (particularly if you're a heavy Facebook user), but it deserves to be mentioned because it is one of the most well-designed and easy to-use apps out there. It also offers a lot of functionality for social networking from updating your status to viewing the updates and posted items of your friends and even to chatting and messaging.
FacePhone is a less well known app that deserves a shout out along with Facebook because it is a great Facebook companion. FacePhone allows iPhone to integrate phone dialing so you can contact your Facebook friends directly from their Facebook information. This makes it a great complement to the Facebook app itself and Apple's Contacts app because it means that you don't need to duplicate or update contact information in order to be able to communicate with your friends beyond Facebook.
