Tip #8: Change the Default Saving Format
To accommodate those still using pre 2007 Office applications, you may find yourself doing Save As too often. Rather than making a few more clicks than necessary, you can probably save time in the long run by changing the default save format. For example, instead of saving automatically to the new .docx format, you can specify to always save as the Word 97–2003 format. To change the saving format, click the Office Button, click the Options button, choose the Save category, and change the first drop-down list box.
