Make a Joyful Noise
If Outlook has already been using the default Windows sound to alert you to incoming email, the sound you just created and installed should now be used instead—without any further work on your part. And, if that's the only noise you want Outlook to make when email arrives, you're all done.
But, if Outlook has been silent on the arrival of new missives, or, if you want to distinguish among different kinds of email you receive, you've got more work to do.
In Outlook, click Tool, Options. In the Preferences tab, click the E-mail Options button. In the E-mail Options dialog box, click the Advanced E-mail Options button shown in Figure 3.
If you want Outlook to play just that one sound when new email arrives, under When new items arrive in my Inbox, make sure that Play A Sound is checked, and click OK until all the dialog boxes are closed. You're done! Jump down to Testing, Testing to see whether it works.
If you're more adventurous, however, and want to assign specific sounds to email from different sources, make sure that Play A Sound is not (I repeat NOT) checked, and OK your way back to the main Outlook window.
