The X-9 i-Mimic Online Simulator
The i-Mimic i-mode simulator was written by Kyle Barrow, from X-9 Design Lab in Osaka, Japan. The simulator is available as an online application (http://www.x-9.com/mimic/) that simulates the Panasonic P209 i-mode handset, and requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or greater. Figure 2 shows the i-Mimic main screen, in which you can open a URL by clicking the indicated button and typing the destination. Interaction with i-mode content is done by clicking on the navigation keys; up, down, left, right, and select.
Figure 2 - i-Mimic allows you to open the URL of a mobile Internet site.
Another great feature of X-9's i-Mimic simulator is that it shows estimated download time and packet charges for your i-mode pages. It shows total size, including images and document, for the page you're currently viewing, and also the estimated download time and packet charges. The total packet charge for the entire session is also calculated to give you an idea of the cost a user would be charged for visiting your site.
The History tab, shown in Figure 3, gives you a list of the pages that you have visited. Clicking on the title of one of the pages allows you to navigate back to that screen.
Figure 3 - i-Mimic History window lets you quickly go back to previous pages.
