Google Maps
Google Maps for Android has been updated recently, so here’s a quick peek at how to use the latest version of Maps to get both a map of your desired location and driving directions to a location.
Start by tapping the Apps icon on the home screen and then tapping the Maps icon. When you start Maps for the first time, you see a Welcome to Google Maps screen that tells you that you agree to Google’s terms of service by using the app. Tap the Accept & Continue button to use Maps.
Now you see the map on the screen that shows your current location as a blue dot (see Figure 5). In the white box at the top of the screen, tap the blank area between the menu icon at the left side of the box and the voice icon at the right side of the box.

Type the address of the location you want to find. As you type, a list of possible locations appears underneath the Search box, as you can see in Figure 6. Type more characters in the address to focus the search. When you find the address you want in the list, tap the address.

The address you want appears on the map with a red pushpin icon in the center of the screen, as shown in Figure 7. You can move around the map by tapping and holding your finger in the map and then dragging your finger in any direction.

At the bottom-right corner of the screen, you see a blue button with a car icon. Under the button, you see the amount of time it will take to get to your desired location from your current location by car. Tap the blue button to get detailed directions. The Directions screen appears with a thumbnail image of the map. Tap the image to view the entire map on the screen shown in Figure 8.

Below the map, you see a box with the number of minutes it will take to drive to your location and the number of miles you will travel. If you want to get step-by-step directions, tap this box to view the step-by-step directions page on the screen.
