An Unchanged Spirit
The GPL always has been about protecting the freedoms of end users. The new version does nothing more than cement those freedoms more firmly. In some places in the new license, the freedoms have been extended to cover more than the source code itself, but the spirit of the GPL remains the same.
Anyone who agreed with the old objectives of the license should have no issues with the new one.
