Tips for Formatting Your Data
Filter the data:
- Turn different variables on and off.
- Look at one variable at a time.
- Look at different combinations of variables.
- Change the colors of the variables to help make sense of the data.
Change the scale:
- What does the data look like if you increase or decrease the scale?
- Look at the data on a log scale.
- Change your units of measure.
- Invert the axes.
Correlate multiple sources of data for the same run:
- Use Excel.
- Overlay your performance test transactions with data from other monitoring tools (What’sUp, Interscope, sysmon tools, etc.).
- Overlay your performance test transactions with difference types/sizes of data than your test used (if possible).
- Change the colors of the variables to help make sense of the data.
