Formatting Text
One unique aspect of a wiki is the way in which you format text. You use a markup language based on common keyboard symbols. For example, an exclamation point (!) preceding a word turns that word into a headline. Putting an asterisk (*) before a word or sentence creates a bullet list. Wiki markup is quite flexible: You can set words in boldface or italics, create different levels of headings, and even build simple tables.
Here’s a sample of some simple wiki markup:
! A Headline Here is some text. Some of it is ’’’bold’’’ and some of it is in ’’italics’’. * A list * With not two * But three items
When published, it will look like Figure 1.
