Setting the Default Printer
When there is more than one printer available, Windows lets you specify one as the default. This setting affects all programs, including Word. Does this make sense? I think not—why would I want the same default printer for Word and PhotoShop? I’d much prefer the ability to also set a default printer in Word (and also in other apps, of course).
In fact, this idea can be taken a step further to selecting a default printer for individual documents. But maybe this won’t work—after all, documents are regularly sent to other people who have different available printers. Perhaps an optional "preferred printer" setting could be implemented for each document. This setting would not necessarily specify a specific brand or model of printer, but rather would specify things such as color or B&W. Sounds good to me!
