Evolutionary, not Revolutionary
Many people asked me, both during and after the show, what I thought the biggest products and greatest gadgets were out of this year’s offering. That’s always a tough question to answer, but this year it might have been a bit more difficult that usual. You see, in my opinion there were no breakthrough products or technologies on display or even announced this year. Instead what we saw were improvements in existing products, with a few minor innovations sprinkled in. Another popular tech website even gave their best of show award to an MP3 player, if that tells you anything about the state of new technologies on display. Still, improvements in existing technology lead to better gadgets, so the lack of any new earth-shattering devices didn’t mean there were no good products on display, even if the hype didn’t match the goods.
