Using a Java Servlet Container Approach
During setup, you need a web server that can process the post request so that clients visiting your website (also powered by the web server) can be kept informed of what is playing.
To update the website, you will use a Java-based approach that reacts to HTTP Posts coming from the Now Playing Plug-in. Accordingly, you will need to use a web server that can process Java servlets. You might consider a free Java servlet container such as Tomcat for this task, or a more scalable commercial server such as IBM WebSphere Application Server.
If Java is not your language of choice, you can use different server-side technologies, such as PHP, for processing the posts of the Now Playing Plug-in. However, I'll be sticking to the Java servlet–based approach.
