My son said it best just the other day: "Hey, my Xbox is, like, everything. I can play games, play my CDs, and watch movies!" It made me wish I'd had one when I was a kid.

The first thing you need to do when you take your Xbox out of the wrapping is turn it on. You are greeted by a day-glo green screen. Lovely.
Listening to CDs on the Xbox
When you insert the music CD into the Xbox, you are taken to the built-in media player. For once, Microsoft has spent time making something look really cool. The Xbox Media Player rocks. This very cool, dark green player has all the controls you would expect (Start, Stop, Random Play). While music plays, a very hypnotic visualization tool swirls.
You use the game pad to control how you access the buttons on the Xbox Media Player. This is really easy, but be aware that the controls can be quite sensitive. Accidentally knocking the pad can force the player to think you want to jump past some tracks.
The only thing that I do not like about the Xbox Media Player is that the player fades to near black after it has been dormant for a couple minutes, which means you cannot see the cool visualizations. Just keep fiddling with the game pad periodically to keep the screen alive.
