Sharp Mebius AV Center PC
Sharp Japan is stepping up to the plate with the introduction of the , an A/V component-sized PC that will integrate perfectly into any home entertainment rack. However, the PC is not sold as a standalone product, but as a bundle comprising an AQUOS 26-inch flat widescreen TV with built-in speakers, subwoofer, PC/TV remote control, and RF wireless trackball keyboard (see Figure 2).
While the Mebius AV Center PC at first glance appears to be a Windows XP Media Center PC, the PC is really running a custom-created Sharp multimedia application called StationAV on top of Windows XP Home Edition that provides PVR functionality, video and picture viewing, music playback, and more. No price has been set on either the PC-TX26GS (which includes Microsoft Office Personal Edition 2003) or the PC-TX26G, and both will initially be available only in Japan.
