If you already have an audio/video receiver and a DVD player, you can easily complete your home theater by purchasing a home theater speaker package. These are like HTiB systems but without the amplification/control unit; all the speakers are pre-matched for best sound, and come in a single box. Most of these packages represent some savings over buying the speakers individually.
Even the lowest-price speaker packages offer everything you need for a 5.1 systemβleft front, center front, right front, left surround, right surround, and subwoofer. Systems start at just $199, and run all the way to $3,000 or more. Most of these systems utilize small satellite speakers, although some of the high-end systems give you larger bookshelf or floor-standing speakers.
Popular systems in different price ranges include Infinity's $399 TSS-450, Polk Audio's $599 RM6005, and Bose's $999 Acoustimass 10.
