Audio blogging takes a variety of forms and encompasses different things depending on who you ask. At the core, posting commentary or thoughts as an audio file or a pointer to a cool audio track could be construed as audio blogging. Linking to other people's music has been happening for the lifespan of the hyperlink. In general, audio blogging takes one of two forms.

One style of audio blogging is the phone-in post, where the blogger dials a phone number and records a message using any phone, which posts to their blog. AudBlog offers a service to do this with a free trial period and a regular subscription fee of $3 per month for up to 12 monthly posts, with an additional $3 for more posts in a given month. Audioblog.com offers a similar service with more features for $4.95 per month. With the audioblog.com service, you have the option to record via phone, a software based application, direct upload of an MP3 or WAV file or record a video using a Webcam. The base rate for audioblog.com limits you to total data transferred, not by the number of postings and it's supports posting audio to as many different blogs as you want.

Podcasting also fits into the audio blog concept. Podcasting is best described as a specific type of audio blogging, where the ultimate goal is to get subscribers to sign up for your RSS feed and download posts to their hard drive every time you make a new content addition. While the various phone-in audio blogging tools are trying to encourage adoption of their products for podcasting, the majority of podcasters create the MP3 of their podcast with an application like Audacity and upload that file to their own Web server. By making a post to a blog and linking to the file, anyone subscribing to the site via RSS gets a notification that a new file is ready for download the next time their subscription application checks for updates. By downloading the file, it's ready for playback on a PC, iPod or other portable player. You can read more about podcasting in this article.

For orders and purchases placed through our online store on this site, we collect order details, name, institution name and address (if applicable), email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, credit/debit card information, shipping options and any instructions. Surveys

Pearson may offer opportunities to provide feedback or participate in surveys, including surveys evaluating Pearson products, services or sites. Participation is voluntary. Application and System Logs

Pearson automatically collects log data to help ensure the delivery, availability and security of this site.
