Human Behavior versus Technology Adoption
Technology adoption due to human behavior is a major area that application vendors are emphasizing. GUI is suddenly a major area, with Microsoft clearly taking the lead with its CE.NET interfaces. The trade-offs of mobile computing probably are more obvious than any other areas of computing. There's no such thing as one-size-fits-all, and that is evident from the diversity of platforms: mobile phones, point of sales systems, tablet PCs and personal digital assistants (PDAs).
As different devices need to be chosen for different applications, different suppliers need to be considered for mobile device requirement (see Figure 3). Delivering the right information at the right time is key to the success of advanced data services on wireless devices.

When it comes to wireless technologies, enterprises are increasingly pushed to make choices between functionality and portability. We can evaluate a platform based on the following criteria:
Type of connectivity hardware (clip-on, plug-in, or integrated wireless devices)
Type of application
Bandwidth and coverage requirement
Security issues
