Nontechnology Databases
You commonly use a number of database-related sources of information in the course of your daily life that you might not readily recognize as databases.
The most common of these is the phone book. It is nothing more than a printed version of a customer and business database that contains names, addresses, and phone numbers. The printed version is organized by last name for easier retrieval of records from the database.
The second example is an item you have used since you were in grade schoolthe dictionary. Each "database" entry in the dictionary contains a number of pertinent items. Besides the correct spelling, it contains pronunciation guides, syllable indications, parts of speech category (noun, verb, and so on), and examples of the word used as different parts of speech.
