Summary
IMHO, Lindows is not quite ready for prime time. While this operating system has created a truly unique method of providing third-party software, it still resembles Linux enough to make life difficult at times for the user. Ironically, these same user-friendly components of Lindows turn hardcore Linux users off. Inadequate security, difficult command-line installations, and too much handholding has the effect of making Lindows "not enough like Linux" for the true computer geeks.
That said, I'll still continue to use Lindows as my media computer. Although I could use Windows 98 for the same basic price, Lindows is a novel idea that I'll be keeping a close eye on. While it may not be quite ready for everyone, my CD-ROM will remain wide open for the next major release.
