The Solaris SunInstall Installation
SunInstall is an installation program that supports various Sun architectures. It can be installed on any standalone workstation.
This installation program facilitates installation/upgrade with either of the following:
CD-ROM drive
Net installation image
NOTE
Using Net Installation server requires you to have a boot server.
Steps to carry out the SunInstall installation are as follows:
Boot using the installation media, CD-ROM, or Network Install server.
The installation program guides you step by step through the installation. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Solaris 9.
After the installation is complete, the system reboots automatically or asks for your instruction to reboot manually.
Verify the installation by viewing the logs in the following directories:
To install from a CD-ROM drive, type the following command at the ok prompt:
ok boot cdrom
To install from an install server, type the following command:
ok boot net
NOTE
If you preconfigured the system using the sysidcfg file or the name server database, the Solaris SunInstall program does not prompt you to enter configuration information.
