Summing Up
And there we have it: VB and Java are horrible, contemptible corporate languages that are falling asleep on the speed track while C++ has already run the race, and they give you lots of cookie-cutter functionality that rarely fits your needs exactly. So, aside from arguments about programming time, we come back to our original question: Why do people use these languages?
I'll tell you: the cheap, dirty thrill of it. Like egging people's cars on Halloween, or tipping cows, or getting "lickered up" on moonshine and then burning down the barn, there's a certain thrill in destroying that which you know to be good, useful, anddare I say it?holy. And all of you capability-challenged people out there know it.
