Oracle 9iAS
Oracle's 9iAS Wireless is architected as a series of services built on top of the core 9iAS J2EE application server. These services include a transcoding engine, offline management tools, a messaging service, mobile office applications, a location service (for development and delivery of location-based services, or LBS), an mCommerce service, and a voice service.
The offline management tools include support for disconnected mobile database apps (to be expected, coming from Oracle!) built around the Oracle 9i Lite DBMS. 9iAS Messaging Services include both push and pull services for SMS and email messaging applications. The Mobile Office applications consist of PIM and email client and server components, integrated with 9iAS LDAP directory security to provide common enterprise mobile applications without excessive custom coding required.
Finally, the 9iAS Voice service supports the development of VoiceXML-based mobile applications, including the voice enablement of email and information feeds, and voice access to PIM and directory functionality.
