Summary
This chapter provided a view into the internals of Configuration Manager. It described the architecture along with external components that ConfigMgr relies on. It discussed the communication protocols used to move information around the site and the hierarchy, and it reviewed the internal components to provide an understanding of the key components of a ConfigMgr site.
The chapter discussed WMI and ConfigMgr’s utilization of WMI at the server and client levels. This chapter also looked at the ConfigMgr database in depth, providing information on how to view the various SQL Server views available to administrators. A review of replication of content and DRS explains how information is moved through a hierarchy. The chapter also provided a summary of the ConfigMgr schema extensions to ADDS.
