Recommendations for Considering Agile
If your organization is developing software, you should be aware of agile development techniques. Even if your process group is not already investigating them, your software developers may be. These developers are valuable resources for process groups. They're motivated and interested in achieving many of the same goals. If organizations see the introduction of agile methods as a violation of established standards and try to stamp them out like weeds, everyone loses. However, if they're cultivated like wildflowers into a garden, then you can create a winning scenario.
Help nurture these efforts, but make sure that there's a good match between the techniques and the projects. Help the advocates create effective pilots and gather the data that can prove their case for expanded use.
