The Best for Web Designers - Designing Web Sites
Introduction
Welcome to my new InformIT series, "The Best for Web Designers"! In this series of articles, I will share my view of the most popular software packages on the market with you. What software should you buy to create Web sites or web graphics, or to add multimedia content to your site? Read on!
In this article, I will tell you about the most popular Web design software (HTML editors) on the market today. The software that I review for this article includes Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage, and CoffeeCup Editor. Of course, many other (often more affordable) HTML editors are available, but I decided to focus this article on the more popular software packages. These are all WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) kind of editors, which basically means that you don't need a lot of HTML coding experience to use them (or none, in some cases!).
I decided to go with these programs because they are some of the most widely used and easy-to-use programs for the average Web designer. I will compare these programs' features and tell you what I liked and disliked about each. After reading this article, hopefully you will have a better idea of what each piece of software does and which would be best to buy for your Web design projects.
