What Is the Future for MMS?
In its release 2.2 of MMS, Microsoft gave us the ability to integrate with Active Directory. However, since then it has released Service Pack 1.0 for MMS. And this gives us XML support. We can use an XML MA to query the data sources and return a valid XML string to and from these data sources. This could make life really easy for associate organizations that need a regular feed of information from your directory stores, .Net here we come!
Microsoft also plans on changing MMS so that the software will support other scripting languages rather than just the Z-Script that MMS ships with.
I have given you a very brief overview of MMS and some of its capabilities. As you can imagine, it is a very powerful tool that can help a medium to large organization finally get a hold of the ever-widening gap between the data stores.
Happy MMS-ing!!
