Final Thoughts…
If you’re already a proficient Mac user, once you upgrade to OS X Yosemite, you’ll discover that while app icons and the overall user interface may look a bit different, the core functionality of your Mac will be pretty much the same. Although, you will have access to more features and functions, and be able to take advantage of the more streamlined design to enhance your overall efficiency.
Much of what makes OS X Yosemite so awesome is what happens behind the scenes. For example, in addition to functioning faster and being more energy efficient, more content and information will be more readily available to you at any given time, plus you’ll be able to automatically send larger files via the Mail app than ever before.
OS X Yosemite also gives you greater control over group text messaging conversations, the ability to access and share purchased content with family members (which maintaining your own iCloud account), and more easily share content between your own computers and mobile devices (using iCloud, iCloud Drive, and/or AirDrop, for example). Plus, you’ll have more options when it comes to sharing content with others by taking advantage of the expanded Share menus built into most apps.
For Mac users who also have an iPhone, the Handoff feature that uses the iPhone as a conduit to make and receive calls from the Mac (via your iPhone’s cellular connection), thus transforming the Mac into a speakerphone, is rather awesome. So, if your Mac is compatible with OS X Yosemite, be sure to take advantage of this free update that’s now available directly from Apple via the Mac App Store.
