iPad Air 2 Pricing
While the iPad Air 2 has a starting price of $499.00 for the 16GB, Wi-Fi only model, pricing goes up considerably when you choose a higher storage capacity and/or add Wi-Fi + Cellular Internet connectivity capabilities. Table 1 lists the pricing for each currently available iPad Air 2 configuration.

In addition to the iPad itself, you’ll probably want to invest in an optional Smart Cover from Apple, or one of the many optional cases available from third parties. One advantage of the Smart Cover is that it automatically puts the tablet into Sleep mode when the screen is covered, and then wakes the device up when the cover is lifted. When the iPad Air 2 is in use, the Smart Cover can serve as a stand. It easily attaches or detaches with the tablet using magnets.
Smart Covers, which range in price from $39.00 to $49.00, are available in a variety of colors (black, silver, red, yellow, blue, green, or red), and are made from polyurethane or leather. While the Smart Covers protect just the iPad’s screen, the optional Smart Cases from Apple ($79.99) protect the front, back and sides of the device.
For an extra $99.00, consider investing in AppleCare+. In addition to providing two years worth of unlimited technical support via telephone or in-person at Apple Stores, AppleCare+ covers most repairs to the device for the same two-year period. In some cases, a $50.00 deductible applies for extensive repairs or tablet replacement.
Keep in mind, AppleCare does not cover the loss or theft of the iPad Air 2. For this additional type of coverage, you’ll need to acquire third-party insurance, from a company like Worth Ave. Group (www.worthavegroup.com) or SquareTrade (www.squaretrade.com).
