What's New in Mango for the Windows Phone?
Windows Phone customers are anxiously awaiting the release of the "Mango" update, due late in 2011. Although many of the 500 or so updates are geared toward the home consumer, quite a few enhancements will excite the corporate crowd. Increased security, better access to collaboration tools, multitasking, enhanced message-threading, Lync Mobile, support for access to hidden corporate Wi-Fi networksyou're certain to find a new feature that you love.
Multitasking
These days it's as essential as breathingeven our children are accomplished multitaskers. They do their homework in front of the TV with music streaming from their laptops, while they post comments on Facebook. Professionals are reading their Twitter feeds, posting updates on Facebook, opening an Excel document to respond to an email query, and looking for directions to a restaurant. If your phone can't keep up, you'll get another phone.
Mango gives you the ability to switch back and forth between open apps, so you can do several things at once, without losing your place. For example, if you're in the middle of signing into your SkyDrive account to open a file when you get a call, you can take the call and then get right back to where you were on SkyDrive. Simply press and hold down the back button to open a task window with thumbnails of recent apps, so you can go directly to any one of them.
