What’s Next
So, you’ve now decided to start a Facebook Page for your business; you’ve spent some time customizing it; and you’ve now published it. “Now what?” you might ask yourself. If you asked yourself that question, fantastic. If not, you should. Not even the biggest brands and most popular celebrities in the world are just suddenly found on Facebook because they’ve published their Page, unless of course, you’re Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, or the new teen group of the year. That begs the question: “How do I get people to my Page?”
One of the first things you should do is to create an easy-to-remember URL that redirects to your Facebook Page. Facebook allows you to create a custom URL, sometimes called a “vanity URL” so that the URL is http://facebook.com/YourBrand. But, you must have 25 fans first. Most people have their employees, friends and family make up that first 25. While you’re waiting to get to 25+ fans, you can either create a URL that is a subdomain of your website, such as http://facebook.mysite.com (which you set to redirect to the FB page), or you can use a URL shortening service and create a customized shortened URL such as: http://bit.ly/brandfb. Whichever option you choose, make sure it’s easy-to-remember because you’ll never remember the default URL with its huge string of numbers like http://www.facebook.com/pages/Awesome-Social-Media-Coach/173403756065916. The next thing you should do is promote your Facebook Page. You can start in a number of ways.
