Disable RSS Feeds
There’s a feature in Internet Explorer 9 that few people use yet slows down everyone's browsing. I'm talking about IE9’s RSS feeds feature, which enables you to subscribe to RSS feeds from blogs and news sites and automatically display new postings and updates in the browser.
If you don't use the RSS feeds feature (and you probably don't), you can disable it and speed up your normal web browsing. Follow these steps:
- Click the Tools (gear) button and select Internet Options.
- When the Internet Options dialog box appears, select the Content tab.
- Go to the Feeds and Web Slices section and click the Settings button.
- When the Feeds and Web Slices Settings dialog box appears, uncheck every option.
- Click OK.
