Carcasonne, Ticket to Ride, Neuroshima Hex (Board Games)
One of the best gaming uses of the iPad is as a digital board game collection. Carcasonne, Ticket to Ride, and Neuroshima Hex are some of the best examples of board gaming on the iPad. And those looking for more traditional games, such as Scrabble or Monopoly, can find plenty to enjoy as well.
The iPad is well suited for board games because the small footprint allows it to be placed anywhere from a coffee table at your destination to the airplane seat tray table. And with the ability to pause in the middle of a game, there's no need to remember how the board was set up when last you left it.
One thing to consider when choosing your game though, is how many people the game supports as well as how you play against other people. Neuroshima Hex allows for any combination of up to four physical or AI players, but currently offers no online support, while Ticket to Ride and Carcasonne have both online and local multiplayer options.
Whatever you decide, the iPad is a great way to experience new board games, or revisit ones you've played before, just in a vibrant new way.
Figure 4 Ticket to Ride is a hugely popular board games. Its iPad version is just as addicting.
