Solutions to the Top Five Mistakes Made by iPad and iPad 2 Users
Your iPad 2 is sleek, lightweight, and extremely mobile. It can be taken and used almost anywhere, and relied upon to the keep data and information you need literally at your fingertips. However, due to human error, random occurrences, or various other factors, sometimes things can and do go wrong.
What you're about to learn are five easy solutions for some of the most common mistakes iPad 2 users make or problems they encounter. By knowing what these mistakes and problems are, perhaps you'll be able to avoid them. If not, you'll be prepared to deal with them in a timely, cost-effective, and stress-free manner.
1. Your iPad or iPad 2 Becomes Unresponsive
There are several reasons why this can happen, and a variety of potential solutions for fixing the problem if your tablet, for whatever reason, becomes unresponsive.
If you're in the middle of running an app, and the app crashes, which also causes your tablet to hang, you'll need to quit the app. To do this:
- Double-tap the Home button to enter into multi-tasking mode.
- When the apps that are running appear in a row at the bottom of the screen, press and hold down any of the app icons with a finger for two to three seconds, until they start to shake and a red-and-white negative-sign icon appears in the upper-left corner of each icon.
- Tap the negative sign icon for the app that crashed to quit the app. (You might also want to quit other apps you're not currently using.) When the app icon for the crashed app disappears, press the Home button again to return to the Home Screen.
- Determine whether your iPad is once again working properly. Try relaunching the app.
In some cases, it may be necessary to reset your tablet. To do this, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button that's located at the top of the iPad 2 for three to five seconds, until the red-and-white Slide to Power Off slider appears. Using your finger, move this slider from its left to right position. Your iPad will power off. Wait 10 to 15 seconds and then turn it back on by again pressing the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't work, reset the iPad by holding down both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds. Even after the red Slide to Power Off slider appears, keep holding these two buttons. The Apple logo will appear next. Release the two buttons and allow the tablet to restart.
You may discover that when you attempt to wake up the iPad from sleep mode, it is unresponsive. This could mean the battery is totally dead. If this is the case, plug the iPad into an electrical outlet using the USB cable in conjunction with the 10W Power Adapter that came with the tablet. Plugging your iPad into an electrical outlet is the fastest way to recharge its batteries.
Or you can connect your iPad to your primary computer's USB port (or a USB hub) using the supplied USB cable, without the 10W Power Adapter. You can also purchase an optional car charger adapter. With the iPad plugged in, wait several minutes, and then try turning it on again. When the iPad turns on, you'll see the battery meter displayed in the upper-right corner of the screen. If the battery is very low, allow it to recharge.
When you plug your iPad 2 into your computer's USB port (or to a USB hub that's connected to your computer), you may notice that instead of the charging symbol appearing in the upper-right corner of the screen, the message "Not Charging" appears. This is because you're attempting to recharge your iPad 2 using a PC or Mac that's several years old, and that does not give off enough power to recharge your tablet's battery.
This USB port can still be used for the iTunes sync process, but to recharge the iPad's battery, you will need to use the 10W USB Power Adapter with the supplied USB cable, and plug it into an electrical outlet (or use an optional battery recharging adapter).
