Choosing the Right Selling Format
So which selling format is for you? Here’s what I recommend:
- If you’re new to the whole eBay thing, are selling some items you found in your garage or basement, and don’t really know what the items are worth, sell via online auction.
- If you’re selling rare, limited availability, or collectible items, sell via the auction format.
- If you’re selling new or gently used items, items that are widely available from other sellers, or commodity items, sell at a fixed price.
- If you like the online auction format but are willing to sell an item quickly if a set price is met, sell via online auction with the Buy It Now option.
Naturally, there are exceptions to all these situations, but this functions as a good general guide. Above all, be happy with whatever format you choose; don’t use a format with which you’re uncomfortable.
