iWork Offers Fully-Featured Apps, Not Simplistic File Viewers
The three apps in the iWork for iPad suite are not simply file viewers used exclusively for looking at (as opposed to being able to create and/or modify) iWork or Office files and documents created on a traditional PC or Mac computer. Each app is a powerful, fully-functional word processor, presentation creation tool, or spreadsheet application with a vast array of features and functions designed for use with the iPad’s touch screen and virtual keyboard.
When the iPad is positioned horizontally (shown in Figure 1), the virtual keyboard is almost the same size as a traditional computer keyboard, which makes typing and data entry feel very natural.
Figure 1 Turning your iPad horizontally increases the virtual keyboard’s size.
However, the optional Apple iPad Keyboard Dock ($69) allows you to attach a full-size keyboard to the iPad, while also charging the unit. Several third-party wireless Bluetooth keyboards are also available.
