Change Back to the Old Style Taskbar
As you probably know, one of the biggest visual changes in Windows 7 is the taskbar, the bar that runs on the bottom of the desktop.
Microsoft has blended the quick launch icons into the icons that represent the minimized programs and windows. Plus the icons are larger and aren't labeled.
If you don't like the new taskbar style, don't worry. With a few setting changes you'll have the old look and feel back.
Figure 3 shows the difference between the default and modified taskbar.
To change it, right-click on the taskbar and select Properties.
For the Taskbar buttons setting, select Never combine (see Figure 4), and then click Apply to see the difference.
To shrink them down to the same size as previous versions of Windows, choose the Use small icons option (also under the Taskbar Appearance section) and hit Apply.
Finally, if any quick launch icons (such as for Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player) are scattered throughout the taskbar, you can simply click and drag them to one area.
