Remember that Vanish is essentially an alpha that actually works as a technology demonstrator; I'm sure the beta and release versions will be more robust. But if you need the capabilities or expect to in the near future, get it and try it. This is probably the first of several standalone products that will embody this technology. I think in the future, you'll be able to select “vanishing document” with a pull-down menu for “message valid time” as an option on e-mail, web forums, word processor, IM, etc. apps and the standalone software packages for this will largely disappear. Hopefully, though, one will still exist if you want to send this kind of data from packages that don't have this capability built in.
