You Have Our Permission
Now that you've discovered the ins and outs of sharing and file permissions, you have our permission to start fiddling around with them.
You moved from the default Simple File Sharing to advanced sharing so you can better control the access of the shared resources on your home or office network.
During the journey, you organized your user accounts and groups, disabled Simple File Sharing, configured both sharing and file permissions, and picked up a few tips. Now we will leave with a few more tips to take away:
- All computers should be assigned to the same workgroup.
- If you run into sharing problems, check the Windows and any other firewall, in addition to the NTFS file permissions.
- You should always have encryption enabled on wireless networks—WPA2 offers the best protection.
