KISS the Boss
Whenever you’re communicating with management, keep the KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid) in mind. As your litmus test for an effective presentation, constantly ask yourself whether your non-technical wife, husband, father, mother, grandmother, etc. would understand the message your slides carry. If so, your presentation is ready for management.
Don’t laugh! This kind of approach in presenting to executives can be used in a wide variety of companies, and for purposes that go beyond disaster recovery. If you can "sell" management on a disaster recovery project, you can sell them on other things you need. They key is learning how to communicate in their terms. They’re not going to learn yours, and if you wait year after year for management to understand you, all you’ll get is frustration—not money or support.
