Summary
My goal for this book is to help you produce full-featured, multimedia DVDs. But to get there, I think it's a good idea to take care of a few fundamentals. Topping that list is having you use your DVD recorder to create data CDs and DVDs. Windows XP has a built-in CD recording module created by optical recording industry leader Roxio. But that module does not work with DVDs.
Recording data to DVDs requires DVD creation software. Most PC DVD recorders come bundled with rudimentary DVD burning software. Veritas's (now Sonic Solutions) PrimoDVD is a commonly used product and readily dispatches most DVD recording chores. Moving up to a full-featured product such as Roxio's Easy CD & DVD Creator means added functionality and features.
