Q&A
-
I have a limited amount of disk space available. Which install type should I use?
-
Normally if you have a limited amount of disk space available on your machine, you would select the Compact installation type. This installation type installs the basic components of the product. The DB2 tools are not installed if you use this installation type, so it will be difficultif not impossibleto complete the rest of the examples in this book. If you have a limited amount of space, try to free up space or find another computer.
-
Do I have to customize the communication protocols during the installation?
-
If you choose the Typical or Compact installation type, your system is automatically set up to use the default values for the communication protocols detected on your system. You don't need to do anything additional. If you want to see or modify the default values, you must choose the Custom installation type. It's recommended that you don't change the default values, but if you must, make sure that you keep a record of the values you've used.
-
Where can I find information about the success or failure of the installation?
-
During installation, DB2 keeps all information, warning, or error messages in the db2.log file. This file is located in the 'My Documents'\DB2LOG folder on your computer.
