Creating a Custom Fill to Define Linear or Growth Trends
You can use the custom fill to create linear or growth trends. For example, let's say you had to determine the growth of sales over the next few months based on the trends over the past four months. Here's a quick way to solve this problem. Similarly to the previous examples, you must use the right-drag with the fill handle. However, notice the example in Figure 3.12. First, you must select the entire series of numbers, and then select the fill handle, right-click and drag to the right, then let go and select Growth Trend. The result is shown in Figure 3.13 of the growth trend based on the historical information.
