Working with SmartArt in PowerPoint 2013
- Understanding SmartArt Graphics
- Inserting Smart Art Graphics
- Modifying and Formatting SmartArt Graphics
SmartArt offers a unique opportunity to present slide content, such as an organization chart or a process, in a way that makes the most of PowerPoint’s many sophisticated design features.
Understanding SmartArt Graphics
SmartArt takes the power and flexibility of PowerPoint shapes one step further. SmartArt enables you to combine shapes and text to create informative lists, matrices, pyramids, and more. Then, using PowerPoint’s many shape and text formatting options, you can create a custom graphic that both conveys your message and gives your presentation the “wow” factor.
For example, you can create a detailed organization chart with SmartArt (see Figure 11.1). Or you can create a graphic that explains a step-by-step process (see Figure 11.2).

Table 11.1 lists the PowerPoint SmartArt types, each offering a variety of layouts to choose from.
