To say that the hypervisor market is in a state of flux right now is putting it mildly. Things should settle down considerably over the next year as new processors and new hypervisors roll out.
Interest in hypervisors for server virtualization is growing as well; surveys have shown that as many as 75% of the Fortune 500 companies either already use virtualization or expect to do so in the next year.
None of this isn’t to say that you can’t effectively use virtualization today. Many companies already do so. Hypervisor virtualization has broken out of the software development community, where it has been strong for some time, and is rapidly becoming part of the mainstream for Windows installations.
